Each month the European Commission honours a
Horizon 2020 project as
“Project of the Month”. Safeguard is very glad to announce that the project has achieved this excellence in the month of October 2021 with an article on EC’s primary source of results
CORDIS. Safeguard has been recognised to be a crucial part in protecting European wild pollinators, who are in decline. Very little is known about how stressors interact with them, or how to address the drop in biodiversity.
Safeguard is a 4-year programme which aims to fill in these gaps, compiling all the available data on wild pollinators while carrying out new field experiments to expand the framework of knowledge.
“As scientists we aim to understand what the causes and consequences of pollinator decline are, and then use this evidence to implement and test interventions to protect and restore pollinator diversity,” says the project Coordinator, Prof. Ingolf Steffan-Dewenter.
